CCUM Knee Mail (Prayer Chain) has existed for over 25 years. It started as a prayer wheel. The hub was managed by the late Lucie Olwine who would call the first person on each spoke, who would in turn call the next person, etc. The Chancel Choir called their spoke Knee Mail and sent their prayers out via email. In 2002, Norm Lofgren became the choir contact person, and he had the responsibility until his passing in April of 2003. It was then picked up by a former choir member, Jan Beamon, who managed it for a year. In 2004, Gretchen Lofgren volunteered to manage it and is still the active manager.
Over time more people asked to receive the Knee Mail via email and it became available to anyone wishing to pray for others. The individual spokes of the prayer chain faded away. Several years ago, the church office began to use Mail Chimp for mass communications and the official “Knee Mail” was born.
In addition to the Sunday Prayers, prayer requests can be sent as a response to Knee Mail; sent to the church office or directly to the manager, Gretchen Lofgren. The manager will send them out as soon as possible after receiving them. When requesting prayer for another person, it is imperative to have their permission to do so.
